Upper School students attend Big Sky Community School in person each day, combining Aeon School's rigorous online curriculum with the structure, relationships, and experiences of a small community school. Our local faculty work alongside students throughout the day, providing academic coaching, individualized support, hands-on learning, and mentorship from adults who know them well.
Partnering with Aeon School allows students to access exceptional teachers and courses while preserving the accountability, shared experiences, and sense of belonging of an in-person school.
Our Upper School model brings together the subject expertise of Aeon’s faculty and the daily, in-person support of our educators in Big Sky.
Formerly Avenues Online, Aeon grew out of Avenues: The World School in New York City. Its experienced faculty provide rigorous core instruction. Aeon is NEASC-accredited and offers NCAA-approved courses.
Our experienced local educators do far more than keep students on track. They deepen learning through writing and humanities coaching, individualized math and science support, hands-on projects, and thoughtful mentorship. Because they know each student well, they recognize when to step in, when to challenge, and when to encourage greater independence.
Great Works is an interdisciplinary sequence integrating literature, history, science, philosophy, economics, politics, and the arts. Students engage with important texts and ideas through close reading, discussion, writing, and applied projects.
Aeon's problem-based mathematics curriculum is modeled on materials developed at Phillips Exeter Academy. Students develop mathematical reasoning through experimentation, collaboration, and complex problem-solving.
Students can study Chinese, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, or Spanish through a task-based language program that emphasizes communication, culture, and practical application.
Motivated students can pursue specialized coursework in subjects including advanced biology, chemistry, economics, physics, U.S. history, and literary analysis.
High School students receive college counseling through Aeon, strengthened by personal support at BSCS.

A BSCS education extends beyond online coursework through hands-on projects, outdoor education, community partnerships, and experiences rooted in Big Sky and the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem.
Through Pursuits & Passions, students develop an area of genuine interest with support from faculty, mentors, and community partners. The flexibility of our model also allows competitive athletes to manage demanding training and travel schedules while remaining connected to their teachers, classmates, and school community.
Students should not have to choose between academic ambition and serious athletic training. The flexibility of our model allows competitive athletes to manage demanding training and travel schedules while remaining connected to their teachers, classmates, and school community.
